Privacy Policy

CalcMeter is built to give you fast, accurate answers without quietly collecting everything you do. This page explains what we collect, what we don't, and the choices you have. No legalese where plain English will do.

Quick overview

Most of CalcMeter runs entirely in your web browser. When you enter your height into the BMI calculator or your birth time into the moon sign tool, those numbers are processed on your device and are never sent to our servers.

The short version We don't have user accounts. We don't sell your data. The numbers you type into our calculators stay on your device. We do use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are popular, and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs.

What we collect

Information you give us

CalcMeter does not require you to register, sign in, or submit personal information to use any calculator. The only time you actively share data with us is if you email us directly or fill out a feedback form (when available) — in which case we receive whatever you choose to send.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we (and our hosting provider) automatically receive certain information when you visit. This typically includes:

  • Your IP address (often shortened or anonymised before storage)
  • Your browser type and version, operating system, and screen size
  • The pages you view on CalcMeter and how long you stay
  • The page or search term that referred you to us
  • Approximate location derived from your IP (country and region only)

Calculator inputs

Numbers you type into a calculator (your weight, birth date, grades, and so on) are processed locally in your browser. They are not transmitted to CalcMeter servers, not logged, and not stored in any database. Refreshing the page erases them.

How we use it

We use the limited information we do collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the website
  • Understand which tools are useful so we can improve them
  • Diagnose technical problems and prevent abuse
  • Respond to messages you send us
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell or rent your data. We do not build advertising profiles about you. We do not use your data to train machine learning models.

Cookies & tracking

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. CalcMeter and its third-party services use a small number of cookies and similar technologies (such as localStorage) for these purposes:

  • Essential — to remember preferences like your unit choice (metric vs imperial) on the BMI calculator. These are set by us and stay on your device.
  • Analytics — to count visits and understand which pages are popular. See "Third-party services" below.
  • Advertising — we may, in the future, display ads from networks such as Google AdSense. If and when that happens, those networks may set their own cookies. We will update this policy before that change goes live.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may reset preferences but will not break the calculators themselves.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted third parties to operate the site. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Google Analytics — to understand site traffic in aggregate. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts — to load the DM Sans and DM Serif Display fonts used on the site.
  • Cloudflare CDN (Font Awesome icons) — to load icon fonts.
  • Our web host — keeps standard server logs as part of routine operations.
  • Google AdSense (planned, not yet active) — if and when we add display ads, this section will be updated and the ad network's policy will apply to ad-related cookies.

We pick partners that allow us to keep this list short on purpose.

Data retention

Because we don't store personal accounts, there's very little to retain. Server logs are typically kept for a short period (usually no more than 90 days) for security and abuse-prevention purposes, then deleted or anonymised. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings offered by the analytics provider — generally 14 months.

If you email us, we keep that correspondence only as long as needed to answer your question, plus a short follow-up window.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask what information we hold about you
  • Request that we correct or delete that information
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing
  • Withdraw consent for any processing that relies on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority

Because we don't run user accounts and don't store the inputs you type into our calculators, the data we hold about any individual visitor is usually limited to anonymous analytics events. Even so, you can email us at any time using the address in Contact us and we'll do our best to help.

Children's privacy

CalcMeter is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS so traffic between your browser and our server is encrypted in transit. We pick reputable infrastructure providers and apply security updates as they become available. No internet service can be guaranteed 100% secure, but because we don't collect or store sensitive personal data, the blast radius of any issue is intentionally small.

International users

CalcMeter is accessible globally. Our servers and third-party processors may be located in countries different from your own, including the United States. By using CalcMeter, you understand that information described in this policy may be processed in those jurisdictions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, when we add a new tool, swap an analytics provider, or respond to changes in privacy law. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the site for at least 30 days.
